DDoS Attacks Target Several Games which includes Final Fantasy XIV

    Ubisoft started experiencing connectivity issues about Oct. 4 when the officials very first tweeted an alert to customers informing them of problems and actual attacks started surfacing about 7:48 am CT on Oct. five, 2018 and impacted Ubisoft games including Rainbow Six Siege and For Honor.

    "??We're at present experiencing a series of DDoS attacks, which regrettably are a prevalent occurrence for pretty much all on the net service providers," Ubisoft posted on an official forum addressing the incident. "This may impact connections to our games also as server latency, and we're taking steps to mitigate this situation."

    Later that day Square Enix announced that it was also fighting off an attack aimed towards its well known MMORPG, Final Fantasy XIV though it is unclear if the attacks are connected or not.

    In response to the high-profile incident, Corero Network Security's Director of Item Management Sean Newman said it was "somewhat bemusing why some providers of on-line gaming platforms appear to nevertheless accept a specific air of inevitability in relation to suffering because the result of DDoS attacks," Newman stated.
